Trip to Arkansas on the VTX

Man... I missed it up there! Used to go 6-8 times a year, and haven't been up there since BBB back in fall of '09!Left Friday morning from my place in Allen, and headed over to Greenville to meet my cousin and his friend (Harley riders). Was 59 in the morning when I left. Packed for the tripTook some semi-back roads up to Fayetteville, AR... logged 353.5 miles up. Weather was perfect!Went out about 8:30am Saturday morning to hit the great roads in the area. Got back about 5pm and logged exactly...

Lenses for Learning Charity Event, etc.

Today was the 5th Annual Lenses for Learning event supporting the Princeton Lions Club. CMA helped manage the event and it was held at Bel Airs 'n Burgers. There was a fun run of about 85 miles or so with 3 stops. At each stop we got 4 shots with a paintball gun to hit 3 targets with various values. There was also a bike show after the ride, as well as a silent auction.I led the first ride of the day out and all went well. It was a little cool the first half of the ride, but once the sun poked...

Bikes, Blues & BBQ 2009

Marty and I went out to BBB 2009 held out in Fayetteville, AR. Went out with my cousin Fred and his wife and some of his friends. This was our first cruiser ride together beyond a few local 70-80 mile rides. We loaded up and trailered out on Thursday... got there and rode around town a bit, etc. Went down to the main strip and checked out the action and some of the vendors, etc. Wasn't that busy which was nice. Pictures from ThursdayFriday we did about a 150 mile ride stopping for about 2 hours...

Muenster Ride

Met my cousin Fred out in Denton (he's from SW Ft. Worth) and we headed out NW, ending up in Muenster.  I took the VTX and he was on his Harley.  Weather ended up holding for us (no rain!) and the temps were pretty good (just a little humid).  Logged ~200 miles.

Lunch stop...

Saturday ride on the VTX

Posted up and got some people that were interested in a ride today, so I led a ride through the normal Wolf City loop.  We had a good variety of bikes!

  1. Honda VTX-1300S (mine)
  2. Suzuki DL650 - Vstrom (Bob and his wife)
  3. Harley (Clay - sorry, dont remember model)
  4. KTM Duke 690 (friend of Clay's)
  5. Honda Goldwing (Mark)
  6. Honda 600RR (Todd)

Weather was great this morning... even a touch cold going over the lake.  We stopped in Blue Ridge for lunch on the way back.  Good food as usual!

1st Ride of 2009

Well, it's been quite a while since I've gotten out and done a ride.  Just been busy with work, family on the weekends, holidays, etc.

However, today's weather demanded a ride    Temps started out in the upper 60's, and it hit mid 70's by the time we finished up around 1:30pm.  Great weather for Albie, Matt and myself, even if we only did about 150 miles or so.  Stopped at our great little mexican place for lunch in Leonard.

Oh... I also noticed my rear end was getting real loose before we got to lunch, so I pulled over.  Sure enough, a nice gash in the rear tire.  Luckilly we were only about 1/2 mile backtrack from the last gas station.   They had a plug kit and air, so after a few minutes there, I was good to go (phew!)   So looks like I'll be putting on the new Pilot Power I picked up the other day sooner then I thought

Saturday Ride (11/10)

Sorry, a bit behind on my entries.  Did a Saturday ride out to Paris last Saturday with a few of the guys from TSBA.  Good ride, about 250 miles... leaves are finally changing colors and falling.  The RR  rolled over 1000 miles today as well.  Currently at 1026 miles.

Saturday Afternoon ride

Led a late lunch ride Saturday with 4 of us on our usual 150 mile loop.  Good weather and good food as usual!  I now have 630 miles on the new RR after  8 days of ownership.

Late morning SMR

Led a short ~150 mile loop ride this morning with 4 of us from TSBA.  Great weather since we waited to head out at 10:30am.  Bike is running good, and chicken strips are long gone.

After stopping for gas, I figured I got right at 37mpg.  Better then the first tank, which was closer to 31mpg.

Saturday break-in ride

Me and a few guys from TSBA went out and rode this afternoon.  I just led our Wolf City loop, as I wanted to put some break-in miles on the new RR.  Weather was good, and I got to put 140 miles or so on her today.

Definately feels different from the F4.... just need a bit more time on her to get acclimated.

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Haven't ridden much as I've been busy on the weekends, etc.  I was able to get out this morning with the TSBA for the SMR though.  12 of us... me on the DRZ today.  Poor thing was in the redline most of the day, but did great.  Nice weather and did around 210 miles.

Here is my Motionbased GPS Map/Log

Sunday, September 30, 2007

Since I didn't get to ride in AR this weekend, I took the DRZ and headed out on  the TSBA SMR.  Logged about 220 miles and had a good ride.  Stopped at our usual Mexican place in Leonard for lunch and then finished up our ride.  8 of us started the ride, 6 of us went on to lunch.  Sorry, I didn't take my GPS and log this ride.

Arkansas Trip

Left Friday morning heading to Clarksville, AR for a weekend of riding with TSBA, etc. I trailered up my bike since Albie was going to ride up Saturday night and we were going to ride Sunday and a bit monday, then trailer back monday.Around 4.5 hours and 300+ miles later I arrived at the hotel. Luke had followed me up in his truck with his bike in the back as well. BJ was already there and geared up... we quickly unloaded our bikes and right about when we were going to leave, Sheyi showed up too....

I had Sunday free so I posted up a DFWSBO Meetup Ride for today.  8 of us headed out and did around a 140 mile loop.  Weather held out nicely... not too hot, and rain didn't come.  I was on the DRZ Supermoto, and Matt brought his Husky 610SM out as well... so 2 of the 8 were on Supermoto's :)

Saturday, September 15, 2007

Today was our first official SaMR with DFWSBO. We had 12 riders total this morning and we headed out a bit after 9am. Since this was the first time many of us had ridden together, we planned a fairly tame pace and a shorter route (125 miles or so).About 20 miles in, we had our first accident. One of the members about mid pack was in a turn and went a bit wide... ended up hitting the grass and then lowsiding. Luckilly, he just missed a pole/sign by about 2 feet! Bike wasn't too bad, the F4i's left...

Branson Trip

There was a Grand Prix event (my ClubGP members) up in Branson, so I got Albie to come along with me for some riding.Arrived Friday mid afternoon and went straight to the track (1/4 mile track rented for the car event). Saturday was the car show, but Albie took the KTM and headed out to a national park to ride in the dirt, etc. It rained off/on all day Saturday, so Albie cut it short, as the park was very rocky, and now wet and slippery. We woke up today (Sunday), to dry roads, and a quick check...

SMR on the DRZ's

Albie and I headed out a little later today and did about 170 miles or so on our DRZ's.  Destination today was Grandpappy's Point (club & restraunt) over on Lake Texoma.  Apparently it was closed down for remodeling since the lake flooded the lower floor and patio of the place, but they never updated their web site with that information!

Saturday, August 25, 2007

I led a ride out today doing one of the modified Wolf City routes.  5 of us went, and weather was just about perfect.  Overcast and mid 80's to 90 degrees.  Food at the newer Mexican place in Leonard was good as was the service.  Did about 220 miles today.  Sorry, no GPS log this time, as the GPS was acting up on me a bit.

Sunday, August 19, 2007

Weather was holding out, so I went out and did the SMR w/ the TSBA this morning.  Actually, I ended up leading.  We ran into the DFWSBR group out at the Wolf City gas station too.  Temps were good and we never got any rain.  The Pilot Power feels alot different on the bike then the Road's I'm used to.  Not bad, just different.

Ended up doing just over 200 miles, and stopped at the new Mexican place in Leonard.  Good food and good people there... definately be going back.  Here is my MotionBased GPS Map/Log.

8/12 SMR

Was going to be real hot, so I headed out just before 8am and went and did the 8am TSBA SMR Sunday. Planned on a fairly short ride due to the heat, but it ended up even shorter.Going through the curves, the bike started getting real loose, so I slowed my pace way down, and pulled off when I could. The others came to me as I got off the bike to see what was going on. It was immediately obvious that I had a flat rear tire. Michael had a plug kit, and Ben had a compressor, so help was there (Thanks...

Sunday Ride on the DRZ

Albie and I took our SM'd DRZ's out this morning and did around 140+ miles.  Started out with TSBA, then on our own, then ran into Todd and a group from DFWSBR.  The bikes did great out there with the sport bikes... of course, the straights were a bigger issue then the curves.  Seems the bikes comfortable top speed is around 90, with peaks closer to 100.  I tried to keep it more in the 80-85 range on the straights.  Butt is a tad sore from the dirt bike seat again.

Hit the curves on the DRZ

Decided to finally take the DRZ out on some of the twisties I normally hit on the sportbike this morning. Only did 85 miles, but was a good break-in test... especially for my butt! Perhaps I do need to go ahead and order a Renazco seat :)Pace in the curves was at least as good as I'd be on the CBR, but I know I had alot left in the DRZ. Main problem is just the gearing. As it's setup right now, I probably top out around 90-95mph, but don't typically take it up that far as that's pushing the bike...

A lower speed ride had been requested by a few ot the girls and newer riders, so we planned one for today. When this was first planned, we figured 5-7 riders or so. Well, I guess the demand for this type of ride was high, because we ended up with over 25 bikes! We broke up into 2 groups and made fairly frequent stops to provide pointers, reorganize the ride groups, etc. Overall, it seemed to work out great! After stopping for lunch, we broke up into a few other groups and took various paths back...

Street & Dual Sport Ride

07/08/2007: Did a little Dual Sport ride on the DRZ today... 3 of us, but was good to get out! Just under 150 miles, and my butt is definately not used to that seat :) Here is the Motionbased GPS Map/Log.06/24/2007: Did a short ride today, trying to beat the rain! Wrench night

Had a few people come by the shop last night to do some maintenance and hang out. I was way overdue for an oil change, so I did that (as always using Honda HP4 gold synth oil and Honda filter). With 28,400 miles on the CBR, I went ahead and added in some Sea Foam as well. I also adjusted, cleaned and lubed the chain as well. Definately feels better after a little basic maintenance. We did a few tire changes, another oil change, and just hung out. Afterwards a few of us went over to Twin Peaks for...

6/10 SMR

Was able to go on the TSBA SMR (Sunday morning ride) today. Good turn out of 12 bikes (13 people), but it definately got warm! Did about 206 miles. Left a little after 8am, and got home about 2pm. We stopped for lunch out in Leonard. Here is the Motionbased GPS Map/Log.Definitely time for me to do an oil change, so I'll be doing that tomorrow night. Back end felt a little odd in the stronger leans, so I'll check that out as well. Perhaps the rear wheel came out of alignment a bit from the lowside...

TSBA IBI - Sunday

Well, most people went home, but 10 of us (9 bikes) went out on another ride today. Roads started out wet, but we found dry ones soon enough. Went out to Cliff House Inn and had a late lunch. Good food and great views! (Grand Canyon of the Ozarks.) Definately worth staying another day!Oh... now that the new brake pads are broken in... I have to say, wow what a difference :)We left about 9:30am, and got back about 5pm. Good day of riding. Here are some pictures, and here is my MotionBased GPS Map/Log....

TSBA IBI - Saturday

Well, Albie and I got in to Clarksville at 3am. The rest of the group was leaving at 8am to go ride... but we decided to sleep in and leave at 10am... then just meet the group at the lunch spot around 12:30. Riding was great as usual... definately don't get these roads in Texas. Albie hasn't been feeling good, so after lunch we left the group and took our own route back. We hit pockets of rain a few times, and decided to cut the day about 50 miles short and head back to the hotel. We still had...

Street Rides

05/11: Some of us from DFWSBR had planned a trip up to Talamina, AR. However, the weather hasn't been cooperating, so many cancelled. A few of us decided to just do a trip out to Paris, TX instead. Weather was actually great, starting out about 70, and going up to the mid 80's. We went to good ols Ta Molli's for lunch.Trip was right at 300 miles. Pictures are here. Check out the MotionBased GPS Map/Log .05/05: Went out on Saturday and a few of us did a nice little loop to just get out and ride....

Tire changes and rides, oh my!

Well, a few members of DFWSBR planned a ride Friday, so I made some time and went along. One of our usual routes, about 170 miles or so. I got back early afternoon, so I could do some work, etc. Then Friday night I had quite a few members of TSBA come over to do some tire changes and just hang out. Many getting ready for an upcoming Arkansas trip. Many of us went to Chili's afterwards. Here are some pictures.Saturday, I threw together a last minute ride since the weather was so nice (80 degrees)....

This weeks rides

Sunday 4/15: I don't usually do many rides on Sundays, but I was able to go out starting at 1pm today. I posted up the ride on DFWSBO, TSBA and DFWSBR and ended up with 10 people on a ride out to Wolf City. Good weather and good ride. We did have a truck try and run 2 of our guys off the road for trying to pass (legally!), which wasn't good. Also, about 40 miles from finishing, I notice my bike was getting a little squirrelly so we stopped and checked my rear tire. Sure enough, very low. Luckilly,...

First 2007 Update

Sorry for the lack of updates. Have been busy and cold, so not riding much lately.   We did have some decent weather for 3 rides so far in 2007:

02/18/2007:  TSBA was doing their normal SMR this morning, and heading out just after 8am.  Andrew ended up posting up a 10am ride, and I volunteered to lead it and go out to Paris for lunch, as he and others wanted to go out there.  Temps were still in the 40's when we left, and got up to about 60.  Ended up being 12 of us and a good day of riding.  Most of them took a quicker way home after lunch, but 5 of us took a longer route back.  I logged about 280 miles or so.  Here is my MotionBased GPS/Map Log

02/06/2007:  Tuesday ride that Todd, Bob and I did out to Paris for lunch.  Gave Bob some break-in miles on the new FJR.  I did have to replace my battery prior to going.  I guess it just sat too much this winter.  We did about 210 miles, and temp got up to 70+.  Here is my MotionBased GPS/Map log

01/26/2007:  The DFWSBR  group did a ride today, logging about 135 miles or so.  A fairly short ride at a modest pace, but a nice day to get out!  Here is the MotionBased GPS/Map Log

Street Rides

Did 2 rides this week, now that the weather is getting nice/cool.

Wednesday 4 of us from the DFWSBR went out on a ride w/ Todd leading.  Only about 165miles, but nice short day.  Motionbased GPS Map/Log is here.

Today (Saturday), there was another group of us from DFWSBR that did a 200+ mile ride.  Was a little cool this morning, but weather ended up great.  Nice to meet some new people as well.  Motionbased GPS Map/Log is here.

TSBA Arkansas Trip

Went out to do more sport bike riding with TSBA up in Arkansas this weekend.  We based out of Clarksville this time around as Eureka Springs was full due to a rally up there.  Most everyone was riding up Friday morning, but Todd, Dave and I trailered up Thursday so we could get 2 full days of riding in instead.  One reason I trailered was that there would be no way for my back tire to make the entire trip as it was close to needing replacing.

Todd went up early by himself, and Dave and I loaded up my trailer and headed up later in the day.  Looking at the forecast for Friday, it was going to be in the low 50's by 9am, so we waited till around 10:30am to head out (closer to high 50's).  Dave planned a route and we stuck to it and had a good day.  Most of the others TSBA'ers showed up around 6pm or so, but since we were staying at another hotel, we went over there around 7pm or so and went out to dinner.   Tire did fairly well today, but it showed more wear.

TSBA planned a long day for Saturday, and were going to leave at 8am.  We talked to James, who brought his friend Todd (Todd2?) and they planned a different ride leaving a bit later for Saturday, so Dave, Todd and I; in addition to another TSBA member Marc; decided to join them instead.   My rear tire was starting to slip on me in the turns, so I had to slow it down today, which wasn't all that fun later in the day.  I decided to cut my ride short about 40-50 miles, and Todd joined me and we headed back.  Got back to the hotel at 6:40pm, before the sun had set.  The rest of the guys we rode with that day didn't get back till about 8pm.  Apparently there was a group of motorcycles tearing up the highway pissing off some state troopers, and they somehow got caught in the middle and was detained about an hour, each receiving tickets.  They should be easy to fight if they decide to.

Tire wasn't quite showing cord, but it was darn close!  Apparently Todd2 (riding a Husky SM610) ended up wearing his D208 a bit more then I did, and he had to ride home from AR!  Luckilly, I had room in the bed of the truck to take his bike back, and Faisal2 had room on his trailer to take James' bike back as well.

Was a good time, and weather was very nice.

Friday pictures are here, and here is the Motionbased GPS Map/Log.  Saturday pictures are here and the Saturday Motionbased GPS Map/Log is here.

TSBA SaMR,etc.

With Steve from TSBA having his big party Saturday night, we all decided to do a SaMR (Saturday Morning Ride) instead of on Sunday.

Since I was already long overdue on an oil change (bike is at 10,460 miles now), I changed the oil (Honda HP4 as always) and oil filter Friday evening.  A few TSBA'ers came by to hang out after I finished, and we ended up going to Cheddar's for dinner.

This morning, we met up at 8am for our SaMR and took off.  Weather was overcast most of the ride, but humid.  Still not too bad.  Had 12 riders I believe, and did about 200 miles.

Here are some pictures I took, and here is the Motionbased GPS Log/Map.

TWT Pie Run

Well, TWT had well over 40 (50?) bikes at the good ol East Texas Burger Company out in Mineola.  I led 5 of us out there taking as many back roads as were reasonable in order to get there by 11am from Allen.

Heat got pretty bad in the afternoon, and when I arrived home around 3pm, outside temp on the bike showed 102.

The restraunt handed us all very well... I was actually quite suprised. We were all done and out front by about 12:30.

I clocked 246 miles on the GPS... Here are some pictures I took, and my Motionbased GPS Map/Log.

Heat and Riding

Yes, it's been over 100 here for a while, and I've grown weary of riding in it.  I did do a 180 mile ride on 7/9, and a 130 mile ride on 7/29 however.  Bike has sat so much, battery was dead on me and had to put on the old battery tender.  Sad I know.

July 4th Ride

Did a ride with 12 other guys, primarilly from DFWSportBike.com.   Weather was good and we had a good ride.  Got a tad warm in the afternoon, but no rain!  Ended up doing about 140 miles or so.  MotionBased GPS Map/Log

Ozark, AR Ride

Many of us from TSBA decided to go back to Arkansas.  Ben (BJ) led this time, and we based in Ozark.  I trailered up (with Andrew) this time, to save the wear on the tires and chain (need to replace chain).

Saturday's ride was perfect... got warm, but it was actually comfortable (80's) during most of the ride.  Was a good time!

Friday Ride

05/26/2006: A few guys from TSBA wanted to go ride Friday, so we made yet another run out to Wolf City to try and beat the heat.  Good ride, here is the MotionBased GPS Map/Log.

Forgot to make a previous entry as well.  Did some maintenance last week... cleaned, adjusted and lubed the chain.  Found that with over 18K miles now on the bike, it's time to replace the chain.  Leaning toward replacing it with an EK MVX x-ring chain, and also doing some new sprockets as well.  Will try and do that after the upcoming Arkansas trip.

Back from the TSBA Spring IBI

Event was fun, always good to see everyone, even though we had rain... Here's the long and short of the past 2 days.

Friday night wasn't too late, but with the forecast for heavy rain, no one rushed to get up.  Saturday, I got up close to 10am, and it was still raining outside.  Around noon or so a group of us decided to head up to the Lodge for lunch.  Of course, the rain got worse as we climbed the mountain, as did the visability from the fog.   Lunch was quite good, and even a brief drying out, we heading back to the hotel.  Even though the rain had basically let up, the fog was considerably worse.  About 10 minutes after getting back to the hotel, it started pouring again... good timing.

Later in the afternoon (4pm?), a group took a chance on the clearing and went out for a ride.  I actually waited it out, and left with a different group a few hours later for a good little ride.  MotionBased GPS Map/Log is here Had a nice steak dinner with about 12 others that night in town too.

Sunday: Most of us met downstairs about 8:15am or so to head out.  I believe 4-6 (trailered) decided to stay and do some riding, since the weather was perfect.   Most of the others headed back to Dallas, etc.

However, 3 of us decided to do a bit of both.  We headed north, planning on adding about 250+ miles to our ride home, but getting home before dark.  About 25 miles shy of Ozark, we stopped for gas at a little station, and as soon as I got off my bike.... out pours coolant everywhere! Seems I took a rock in the radiator.  Luckilly, they had JB Weld, so while I did that we sat around for about 45 minutes, until I let the other 2 head on to Ozark for lunch.  About an hour later, I decided I had waited long enough, and was just gonna get to Ozark.  Met up with them on the way over there, and we stopped at the bridge under 40.   Looked like the JB Weld was holding, but I also left the radiator cap off to keep the pressure down.  I let them continue their path, and I started slabbing up 40.  I had a friend coming up to meet me (Thanks Brick!), so regardless of what happened to me, I woulda had a ride.  Ended up meeting him in Stringtown, and got home about 7pm.  MotionBased GPS Map/Log is here.

Awesome riding today... too bad mine got cut short.  All my pictures are here.

Was out of town last weekend, and it rained anyhow.  Since I hadn't ridden in well over a week, I posted up for a ride this afternoon.  Had 3 other takers, so we headed north east... one of the regular routes.

Weather was nice (70's), but quite windy.  Still a nice day for a ride and did about 130 miles or so.  Here's the MotionBased GPS Map/Log.

Temperatures were good, but it was overcast all day.  Gary and I went out and did one of our normal routes.  Too bad a few more people couldn't make it.  Good ride, about 140 miles or so.

More Rides

Todd, Gary and I did a ride with TSBA today... or at least it started out that way.  We had 15 of us in the TSBA ride when we left Plano.  About 100 miles in, they stopped for gas, etc.  6 of us peeled off and headed to Paris for lunch, the headed back to town.  About 280 miles today.

Here's the Motionbase GPS Log/Map.

Also did a casual ride with a new rider on Wednesday.... Here is the Motionbased GPS Log/Map

A bit behind on posting rides we've been doing... but here are a few we've done lately.

Mineola Ride

Jason (Soloman) from TWT wanted to do a ride to Mineola, so I helped plan a new route out there and back, and 7 of us headed out.  Weather was a bit cool in the morning (46), but it warmed up nicely (78) in the afternoon.  As usual, we stopped at the great East Texas Burger Co. for lunch.

My GPS/Map log got separated into two parts:  Morning and Afternoon.

A few pictures from the day are here.

Wednesday Paris Ride

Thinking that more people would be off and available, we planned a little ride today out to Paris for lunch.  Total trip was 300 miles or so.

Todd (TWT, Richardson), Bill (TWT, Plano) and Heather (TSBA, Plano) joined me for the ride.  Headed out about 9:30am, got home at 5:30pm.  Was a good day for riding!

Weather was great, probably the last day like this of the year...  You can see the temp gauge on my bike in one of the pictures...  Here are the pictures, and here is the Motionbased GPS Map/Log.

Edom Pie Run Ride

Decided to put together a last minute Pie Run ride out to The Shed in Edom, TX.  Was a bit cool, but the ride was good.  Mostly TSBA members this time, with a few TWT'ers thrown in as well.

Tommy led us on a route he came up with, and other then a few u-turns and some small county rides, it went well :)  Three of us cut the ride short and slab'd back, since we needed to be home earlier.

Here are my pictures, and here is my MotionBased GPS/Map Logs.

The San Antonio chapter of TSBA puts on a Fall IBI (nickname for Iron Butt Invitational) out in the Hill Country of Texas west of San Antonio.

I had yet to ride in the Hill Country, so this was a nice excuse to get down there.  Thanks to the efforts of quite a few TSBA members, I was able to trailer down and back, and had a roomate to share a cabin with!

Weather was okay (overcast and a little damp) on Saturday, but the roads and the ride was great.  Definately got a bit of a sore butt. The company was great, and the BBQ dinner Sat night was good as well.

I also won some Honda chain lube, an F4i hat, and a $100 gift cert. to NewEnough

Luckilly, I finally got around installing my frame sliders before the trip.  Why luckilly?  Well, a few of us stopped on a steep hill to take a few pictures.  I was off the bike taking a shot, and the bike came over on me.  Guess the incline and the pebbled surface of the road let the kick stand slide out.  Luckilly, no real damage.

Here are some pictures I took.  And here is my GPS Map/Log on MotionBased.

Wed Ride to Mineola

Old Paul from TWT planned a ride out to Mineola today.  Ate at the East Texas Burger Company, then they were going to do a 200 mile route after lunch.  I had to be back a bit earlier, so Todd and I did part of the route, then took a semi-scenic route back home.

Weather ended up great, which was nice compared to last Saturday's cold start.  Pictures (only a few)

TWT Pie Run - Hico, TX

Another excuse to ride!  TWT organized another Pie Run; this time to Hico, TX.

Temperature was about 41 degrees when I left the house... I bought some new Cold UnderArmour underpants and undershirt to help deal with the colder temps, as well as glove liners.  All this helped, but it was still darn chilly on my F4!

I counted 39 bikes at the event, not sure just how many people.  Riders from DFW, Austin, Houston, etc were in attendance.  Pie was quite good, skipped lunch and just had 2 pieces of pie :)

TWT Run to the Shed Pie Run

Many members of TWT all met up in a little town in East texas called Edom.  There is a little restraunt there called "The Shed" where we all met and ate and had Pie.  I personally just had the Pecan Cobbler and ice cream :)

We had about 38 people at last count, including people from DFW, Houston, and other areas. Nice time, and nice selection of bikes.

My ride was about 130 miles out there, and about 120 back.

TWT Arkansas Trip - Day 4, Monday

Well, the trip was very worthwhile.  Thanks to Scott, Jason, Gary, John, and all the other TWT'ers!

For the ride back to Dallas, we took a more direct route but stayed off the main highways.  Left about 8:30am and I got home at 3:15pm.  Total distance was ~370 miles.

GPS Map/Ride log

I ended up putting 1607 miles on the bike on this trip according to the odometer.

TWT Arkansas Trip - Day 3, Sunday

Another nice day of riding... weather was great today!

We had an incident up in some of the mountain curves, and a member from the Houston area lost his Triumph Sprint RS.  He walked away shaken, but otherwise in great shape.  The bike however, looks totalled.

Pictures from today

Two of the other members road about 1.5 hours back to the hotel to get the truck and trailer, and two other members stayed at the accident site with the bike and owner.

Once that was all dealt with, the remaining 8 of us continued on the ride since there was no more help we could provide.  Got back close to 8pm, with over 480 miles logged today.

TWT Arkansas Trip - Day 2, Saturday

Wow!  Definately don't know of any riding in Texas remotely like this!  The roads are definately made for motorcycles up here.  We road about 350 miles today.  I pushed the bike harder then I ever have on this ride.  So much so that it was quite sureal.  Basically felt like I was playing a video game and riding a roller coaster at the same time. :)

Pictures from the day.  Wish I could have taken some as we were riding!  Next time I'm bringing the video camera and mounting it on the bike.

My GPS logs/maps are in two pieces.  Before lunch, and after lunch.

TWT Arkansas Trip - Day 1, Friday

Some fantastic roads up here, and I definately had to push the bike down through some turns (due to my experience yesterday laying the bike down with a slick tire).  Was about 465 miles or so today.

Left this morning at 8:30am from our starting point in Mckinney.  5 of us left from there and headed out via semi back roads to New Boston, TX to meet up with Scott and a few others from TWTex.  From there we all headed up through Arkansas up to Eureka Springs.

MotionBased GPS Log/Map

Tomorrow and Sunday are the main riding days up here... in and around Arkansas and Missouri.  These daily rides should be around 300-350 miles each.

Here are pictures from today.

TWT Sunday Ride / Texoma

First Sunday that I didn't have the usual family stuff going on, so I went out and did a ride.

Rode out with some of the guys from Two Wheel Texans today out to Lake Texoma for some breakfast :)  Was a nice ride, and we left about 7:30am... well before the heat.

I ended up splitting off after "breakfast" and stopping by a friends lake house, then heading straight back.  Was about 230 miles.

Here is my GPS log/map at Motion Based

TWT Saturday Ride

Did a 250 mile route with some of the guys from Two Wheel Texans on Saturday.  Great route, good ride.... just a bit hot in the afternoon!  I split off and hit 80/635/75 on home once we got out on 20 coming back.

Two Wheeled Texans Meet

The Two Wheeled Texans forum had a DFW East meets West meet last night (8/10).  We had about 22-24 riders show up and enjoy each others company at a Boston's Restraunt.  Nice variation of bikes, and good conversation.

Sorry.. no pictures from me this time.
